Grizzly & Salmon Coin 2017We are very happy to announce that the Royal Canadian Mint has selected Allan’s artwork to be featured on a $20 Silver coin designed exclusively for their Master’s Club collectors. This 1 oz fine silver coin showcases a Grizzly Bear in a riverbed habitat. Salmon can be seen through the blue translucent enamel creating the effect that they are swimming underwater. 2015 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp & Print

Blossoming - Mourning DovesAllan’s painting entitled “Blossoming – Mourning Doves” has been unveiled by Wildlife Habitat Canada as the image for the 2015 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp! This is the third time Canada’s national conservation stamp has featured Allan’s artwork. For more info:

A NORTHERN TAPESTRY, Whistling Fish Productions

Part Of The Pod - OrcasTwo presentations of A Northern Tapestry, by Whistling Fish Productions, were held at the ArtSpring theatre on Salt Spring Island in November 2014. The performance was written to celebrate the beauty of the Canadian landscape as seen through the eyes of Canadian artists in image, word and music. Both historic and contemporary works were featured. Five of Allan's paintings were among the images used.

Bridle and Barn SwallowWebster Galleries in Calgary, Alberta is featuring an exhibition of Allan’s paintings from September 20 to October 18, 2014. Having lived on the Prairies for fifteen years, the region has greatly influenced Allan’s artwork. “Fields & Feathers” was inspired by and celebrates the birds of the Prairies that so many of us enjoy.

2014 Salmon Conservation Stamp & Print

Rapid Approach - Chum Salmon & GrizzlyPacific Salmon Foundation has announced that Allan's painting entitled "Rapid Approach - Chum Salmon & Grizzly," has been chosen for the 2014 Salmon Conservation Stamp! The stamp is featured on the Tidal Water License and raises funds for salmon restoration and enhancement projects in BC. Limited edition prints will also be available.

BirdLife International World Congress, Ottawa 2013

Gray-crowned CraneNature Canada and Bird Studies Canada hosted the BirdLife International World Congress in Ottawa from June 19-22, 2013. The Congress was attended by delegates from around the world including Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado of Japan, BirdLife Honorary President. Allan’s painting “Gray-crowned Crane” was featured at the Gala in support of BirdLife International’s conservation efforts. We are very pleased to announce that Princess Takamado purchased Allan’s painting that evening! Allan is extremely honoured to have his work in the collection of Her Imperial Highness and also to have been able to support an event where many worldwide conservation issues were addressed.

The Pointing Dog Journal, March/April 2013

Gotcha! - BabeAllan’s painting entitled “Gotcha! – Babe” is currently featured in the March/April issue of The Pointing Dog Journal. The painting was commissioned by collectors of Allan’s work looking to have their two-year old Brittany Red Diamond beauty “Babe” portrayed in a favourite activity. You’ll find it on page 56.

Canada’s Raincoast At Risk, Raincoast Conservation Foundation

canada's raincoast at riskCanada’s Raincoast At Risk is a book published by Raincoast Conservation Foundation that features all of the artwork included in the Art For An Oil-Free Coast touring exhibition. Along with the artwork, the book includes sketches and a short biography on each artist. It also features poetry and essays portraying the beauty and importance of the Great Bear Rainforest. Art For An Oil-Free Coast Touring Exhibition

Swell For Now - Tufted PuffinResulting from a trip to the Great Bear Rainforest is an exhibition of artworks inspired by BC’s central coast. Each artist that visited the area produced and donated one work of art to Raincoast Conservation Foundation’s touring exhibition. Beginning with stops in BC in 2012, the exhibition will continue across Canada in 2013 to raise awareness of the need to protect this important area. “Swell For Now – Tufted Puffin” is Allan’s contribution to this effort. Great Bear Rainforest

rainforest-tripIn June 2012, Allan was one of the invited artists that visited the Great Bear Rainforest on the central coast of BC. The trip was sponsored by the Raincoast Conservation Foundation to raise awareness of the dramatic beauty and ecological diversity of the area, now under threat by proposed oil tanker activity. Not only is this area home to Grizzly Bears, Black Bears and numerous other species of wildlife, it is the only place in the world where Spirit (Kermode) Bears exist. Along with Humpback Whales and an abundance of marine life, this area is stunningly beautiful and definitely worth protecting. (Photo credit: Kevin Johnson)

2011 Robert Bateman Get-To-Know Launch

2011GetToKnowLaunchOn April 21, 2011 (Earth Day) Allan was the guest artist/speaker at the launch of the 2011 Robert Bateman Get-To-Know program at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, Canada. After drawing a Snowy Owl with the students, Allan encouraged them to spend time outdoors discovering nature, even in their own backyards. For more info:

2011 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp & Print

Along The Edgewater - American Wigeon Allan's painting entitled Along The Edgewater - American Wigeon has been selected by Wildlife Habitat Canada for the 2011 Canadian Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp & Print. This is the second time Allan has received this honour, the first being in 2005 with Wintering West - Harlequin Ducks. Amazing AnimalsIn fall of 2009, Allan began working on an exciting new project after being contacted by a book publishing company. AMAZING ANIMALS, written by Margriet Ruurs and published by Tundra Books, will highlight the remarkable things that creatures do and will also feature about 50 of Allan's paintings! AMAZING ANIMALS: A One Man Show, Peninsula Gallery, Sidney, BC

The Peninsula Gallery in Sidney, BC is having an exhibition of all of Allan's paintings to be featured in Margriet Ruurs' book AMAZING ANIMALS. The show runs from September 19 - October 2, 2010. WITNESS : SELECTED POEMS cover artAllan's painting October - Barn Owl will be on the cover of award-winning Canadian poet Patrick Lane's up-coming book entitled WITNESS : SELECTED POEMS 1962 - 2010, published by Harbour Publishing, available in September 2010. Patrick became interested in Allan's artwork after a visit to the Peninsula Gallery and coincidentally, is a former professor of Allan's from the University of Saskatchewan in 1988. For more info:
